I inherited my passion for photography from my beloved grandfather, Mirosław Rybicki.
Mirosław Rybicki joined Piłsudski's Legions, where as a 16-year-old boy he earned the Cross of Independence (Krzyż Niepodległości). In 1939 he was appointed to the army, he was a participant in the last battle of September 1939, near Kock, where he was taken prisoner. After 6 months he returned to Zwierzyniec, where he joined the Związek Walki Zbrojnej (he adopted the pseudonym "Żuk").
He was arrested on June 9, 1942 by the Gestapo of Bilgoraj, after which he was transported to the prison at the Castle in Lublin. From Lublin, he was sent to camps in Oświęcim, Flosenburg and Dachau, where he was liberated by American soldiers on April 29, 1945. He came back home in August 1945. He pursued his artistic interests through organizations and participation in artistic and cultural events, membership in the choir and as a pianist at the "Oaza" cinema in Zwierzyniec. He died in 1975. Mirosław’s photographs can be seen in the Museum Catalogue.
